Frequently Asked Questions
What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare, based upon the inherent ability of the body to heal itself. When the body’s equilibrium becomes unbalanced by internal and external forces, such as stress, poor digestive function and chronic disease, a naturopath can improve wellbeing. A therapeutic partnership between the naturopath and patient can prevent disease formation and disease progression by supporting or boosting the body’s natural healing potential.
Who can see a Naturopath?
Naturopathy is suitable for all ages and can improve wellbeing in a wide variety of conditions. Consultations are individualised to ascertain and treat the underlying cause of disease through a comprehensive analysis of diet, lifestyle factors and past medical history.
What to expect:
Initial consultations take 1 - 1.5 hours. During this time, you will have an opportunity to discuss your presenting concern in detail. Naabi will take a thorough case history and systems review to attain an understanding of how you have arrived at this point in your health journey. Your dietary patterns will be discussed and any relevant physical examinations will be undertaken as required. Further tests or results may be requested for follow up. You are always invited to participate fully by asking as many questions as you like throughout your consultation. Naabi will discuss your prescriptive options with you, and together you will formulate a plan that is sustainable, practical and achievable.
Follow up/return consultations usually take 30 mins, but may take 45 mins if the case is more complex. A return consultation is usually required 2 weeks after an initial consultation to review any medications prescribed, analyse new medical results, and assess further changes in condition. You can then discuss your options and preferences with Naabi to create a holistic and tailored, short and/or long term management plan.
